For a points-based class grade, enter the points earned and possible for each assignment. For a weighted class grade, add each category's score, maximum score, and course weight, then choose percentage or relative point weights. Choose Average assignment grades when each assignment counts equally. For a test grade, choose Test grade / Easy grader and enter total points plus either correct or wrong points. Choose a letter scale only if it matches your course, and edit cutoffs when needed. In weighted or average mode, you can choose a letter grade for a row. Weighted mode can show the average needed on remaining work; supply its weight explicitly when using point weights.

Formula & how it works
Points grade = earned points ÷ possible points × 100. Weighted grade = Σ(score ÷ maximum × weight) ÷ Σweight × 100. Average mode gives every assignment equal weight. Required grade on remaining work = [target × (completed weight + remaining weight) − completed weighted score] ÷ remaining weight.
Worked examples
Example 1
85/100 and 90/100 give 175 ÷ 200 × 100 = 87.5%.
Example 2
An 85% category weighted 40% and a 90% category weighted 60% give 34 + 54 = 88%.
Example 3
If 85% counts for 20% and 90% counts for 30%, the current grade is 88%. To finish at 90%, the remaining 50% must average (90 − 17 − 27) ÷ 0.50 = 92%.
Example 4

Assumptions & practical notes
Enter completed work only; a missing grade is different from a zero. Weighted totals below 100% are normalized to the included categories.

Can I grade half points or use my own letter-grade cutoffs?
Yes. Enter a chart increment such as 0.5 for half points. Choose Custom A+ to F cutoffs to set the minimum percentage for each letter grade; F covers scores below your D- cutoff.
Is an average the same as a points grade?
Only when assignments have equal maximum points. Choose the method specified by your instructor.
How do I use the weighted grade calculator?
Choose Weighted class grade. Enter each category score, maximum score, and either its percent-of-course weight or relative weight points. The current grade is normalized to completed work.
How do relative weight points work?
Weight points express proportions, such as homework 3 and tests 5. The calculator divides by the sum of included weights, so they do not need to total 100. To plan a target grade, enter the points assigned to remaining work.
Can this calculate a semester grade?
Yes, if you already know the quarter or term percentages and final exam score. In Weighted class grade, enter each percentage as a score out of 100 with your school's weight. How are letter grades converted to percentages?
Example equivalents are A+ 98, A 95, A- 91, B+ 88, B 85, B- 81, C+ 78, C 75, C- 71, D+ 68, D 65, D- 61, and F 0. Schools differ; use exact percentages for a precise result.
How do I find the grade needed on remaining work?
Choose Weighted class grade and enter completed scores with their weights, then your desired overall grade. With percentage weights, remaining weight defaults to 100% minus completed weights; you may enter a smaller modeled amount. With relative point weights, enter the remaining weight explicitly.
