How to use
Paste your number list separated by commas, spaces, or newlines. Include repeated values as separate entries. Calculate to see the mean together with the sum, count, minimum, and maximum.
For related tasks, try the Mean Median Mode Calculator.
Formula & how it works
Arithmetic mean = sum of all values ÷ number of values.
Worked examples
Example 1
10, 20, 30 have sum 60 and count 3, giving a mean of 20.
Example 2
−5, 0, 2.5, 2.5 have sum 0 and count 4, giving a mean of 0.
Assumptions & practical notes
Every entry has equal weight, including duplicates. Blank input is not treated as zero.
Outliers can pull the mean away from a typical value. Use Mean Median Mode to compare the center of a skewed dataset.
See our calculation methodology for unit definitions and testing practices.
