How to use
Choose a rectangular room or enter combined gross area. Decide whether to include the ceiling, subtract openings, set the actual panel size and review the allowance before calculating.
Room area = 2(L+W)H + optional LW ceiling. Panels = ceil((gross area − openings) × (1+waste/100) ÷ panel area).
Example inputs · Room plan · wall and optional ceiling coverage. Schematic, not to scale.
Worked example
Example 1
A 12 × 10 ft room with 8 ft walls has 352 ft² of wall area. Add a 120 ft² ceiling and subtract 32 ft² of openings: 440 ft² net. With 10% waste and 4 × 8 ft panels, ceil(484/32) = 16 panels.
Assumptions & practical notes
Estimate one layer on the measured faces. Multiply the entered area appropriately if the design requires more layers.
Thickness, fire rating, moisture resistance and fastening must follow the project requirements. Area division does not optimize panel cuts.
